In every school year there reaches a point where even the best of teachers have to ask themselves the question, “How many more weeks until summer, again?” Mr. D has reached that point. Teaching is an incredibly rewarding profession, one that I have happily been a part of for 7 years now, but it is an interesting profession. It is the only occupation I can think of that encompasses so many roles and responsibilities…..educator, nurse, counselor, role model, friend, disciplinarian, comedian, administrator, events planner, entertainer, record keeper, secretary, custodian….the list goes on and on. This year I couldn’t have asked for a better group of students, and we have had a great year, but after 8 months of spending several hours a day in a small room with 18 kids (though amazing they are)…it’s time for a break.
Here are a few pics of Mr. D’s class from the year. They were taken on class field trips to the Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Sanctuary, during Spiritual Emphasis Week where the students were whisked back to Rome during the times of the early church, and from their amazing spring musical performance of “It’s Cool in the Furnace.”
Jamie- this is awesome.. ‘It’s cool in the Furnace’ looked amazing…! also… I HAVE to go to the Elephant Orphanage!
