Our little “African”-American…

She is finally here!  Sophia Grace Dunning (Sophie) made her grand entrance into the world on June 11 at 7:29 pm at Aga Kahn Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.  At birth she weighed a healthy 7 lbs 11 0z and measured 20 inches in length.  She was delivered by c-section 29 hours after labor started.  9 of those hours were extremely tough for Mom (and difficult for Dad to watch) but Mom was extremely strong!  Finally, Dr. Patel decided to perform a c-section and shortly after Baby Sophie entered the world, making all the previous hours well worth it.  She is a beautiful, sweet little girl who has already brought Mom and Dad incredible joy…..and perhaps just a little less sleep. 🙂

Papa, Grammy, and Aunt Lissy landed in Nairobi 1 hour after Sophie was born, and  Grandad, Grandmama, and Aunt Jenn will arrive on June 25.  Sophie is so happy to have her family fly 8,000 miles to come meet her!
