Christmas is just around the corner!  Last year we had an amazing Christmas with all of our partner feeding programs around Kenya (to see recap of last year’s Christmas Project, click here-ChristmasUpdate2015).

This year, we are again planning to celebrate this wonderful season with each of the People to People partner orphanages and schools by hosting a Christmas party for each project, as well as providing each child with a gift. Here is a brief breakdown of what we are planning:

We will be hosting a meal at three orphanages, Hosanna Children’s Home, Huruma (Mercy) Children’s Home and Nakuru CMD.  All three of these orphanages have requested new school shoes for each child.  So we will be purchasing 185 pairs!

The students at Calvary Christian Community School Ruai do not meet during the month of December, so we will celebrate with them during the last week of November. We will provide each child with a sack of food items for their families/caretakers, along with special treats.  We also want to provide the school with new classroom desks.

At the feeding programs in Northern Kenya (Lokichoggio and Isiolo) we will have a special Christmas meal, as well as a gift for the children.  The children at Lokichoggio have requested People to People T-Shirts and school supplies.  The Isiolo feeding program has requested funds to complete the roof on their new church building, which also become the permanent home of the feeding program and fellowship.

People to People will also be providing funds for gifts for over 60 Pastors’ children in Kenya!

The total cost for this is going to be $6,000. We already have $500 committed from People to People, so we need $5,500. These funds will provide a special Christmas meal for around 600 children, 185 pair of shoes, food gifts for 200 families, 30 new student desks, school supplies and t-shirts for 80 children, funds for gifts for 60 pastors’ children, and a roof on a new church building!
